RayViz is a SOLIDWORKS® add-in that allows users to assign and save optical properties directly to a SOLIDWORKS model using built-in TracePro functionality.

By using a single model in both TracePro for ray tracing and optical analysis and SOLIDWORKS for mechanical design and optical material modification, RayViz ensures data integrity.

Optical designers can significantly speed up the iterative design process without sacrificing performance or functionality.

How does it work?

 

Start with a SOLIDWORKS model

Create parts and assemblies in SOLIDWORKS. However, SOLIDWORKS itself does not support defining optical properties for parts and assemblies.

Apply optical properties and archive in SOLIDWORKS

With RayViz add-in, define and modify optical component geometry and material and optical surface properties in the TracePro system tree in SOLIDWORKS. Save the model in SOLIDWORKS or TracePro format.

 

Open your model in TracePro, trace rays and analyze optical performance

Open a saved model in TracePro and you will see an instant representation of the SOLIDWORKS model in the TracePro model tree. The “healing husk” tool examines imported geometry and lets you analyze, repair, and join its elements. Use TracePro’s analytical capabilities to optimize and tolerance your design. Then return to SOLIDWORKS to modify geometry and optical properties and save the updated model.
